Schedule of Official Events
Friday evening (6:30 – 10:00pm): We will hold an informal gathering at the Troy Hilton Garden Inn as a convenience for those who have traveled in that day. This way, for all who will be staying at the HGI, you don’t have to get in your car again. The Fireside Lounge and dining room area are reserved for us, giving us plenty of room and a wonderful opportunity to catch up with brothers of all ages. Later, for those who wish to continue and don’t care to drive to local bars, the Recovery Sports Grille is just downstairs.
There are also plenty of locations downtown, including The Ruck and Finnbar for craft beer, The Confectionary for wine/beer/charcuterie and The Tavern for more standard fare, Brown’s and The Malthouse for beer and bourbon, and more. The old Trojan Hotel has been renovated and the historic O’Brien’s Public House is open again on 3rd Street.
Saturday morning: Informal breakfasts as arranged by era groups, classes, etc. Talk amongst yourselves.
Saturday 11 AM Campus Tour: We will conduct the first set of campus tours for those who are interested. Gather on the north side of the Student Union, located on the corner of 15th St and Sage Ave (we’ll meet on the Sage Ave side where you see the oval driveway). For those who might find walking around campus a bit difficult, we plan to rent golf carts for the day, but we will need to hear from you beforehand. We might need to coordinate a bit based on the number of carts we will have, but as long as you let Roger know, it’ll be worked out.
Saturday 1PM and 2PM: Prior to the main event of the afternoon at 2:00 pm, the re-opening of the George Low Gallery, there will be a light reception provided by RPI beginning at 1:00 pm. While initially we planned to hold this reception and ceremony at the Playhouse, as was the case in 2002 when the Low Gallery was dedicated, we have changed the venue to the Russell Sage Dining Hall banquet room (upstairs.) This is a beautiful room that is air conditioned. It also has a rooftop patio that can be enjoyed if we wish. We thought this might be a better location. As you recall, the front of the Russell Sage Dining faces the Quad and the rear faces the Playhouse on 15th St as well as the building named for George Low, the Center for Industrial Innovation. The best entrance to use is at the rear and then either take the stairs or the elevator to the second floor.
Saturday 3 PM Campus Tour: For those who missed the first round, and those who want to do it again. These tours will start from the Low Gallery.
Saturday evening: Sesquicentennial Gala, 6-11 PM. Hilton Garden Inn.
Sunday morning: Informal breakfasts as arranged by era groups, classes, etc. Talk amongst yourselves.
